If you are
a Christian in Alabama who feels satisfaction defending the Commandments
as a victory for God, remember that pride goeth before the fall!
Only one in
five Americans approve of the federal court order under which workers
removed the Ten Commandments monument from the rotunda of Alabama's
state judicial building Wednesday, according to a new poll. The
defenders of the commandments apparently have won this case, at
least in the court of public opinion. Unfortunately, public opinion
is seldom consistent with the teachings of Christ. The Ten Commandment
monument is actually a graven image and is not to
be worshiped according the very Commandments the protesters are
defending.
These protesters
are also violating the teaching of Jesus regarding the hindering
of other believers. It would be better for a believer to be tied
to a millstone and cast into the sea, than to cause another believer
to stumble. The insane rants of many of the protesters turn off
many who might be converted, causing believers who are trying to
save them to stumble. Thus, the protesters are indeed stumbling
blocks and are not helpful, in any way, to the cause of spreading
the Gospel!
Lastly, the
monument is clearly a violation of the separation of Church and
State. " Give unto Caesar that which is Caesar's", is the quote
from Jesus imploring the faithful to obey the law of Rome and pay
the tax levied on them. Christians must obey the law, even if we
don't agree with it.
